The Government is implementing the Plan PIMA SOL to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of hotels.

  • It will allow hotel establishments to renew their infrastructures with a view to reducing their CO2 emissions by between 40% and 70%.
  • The Plan will mobilise a global investment of over 400 million euros, with 50% finance from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for Spanish hotels, offering very favourable conditions.
  • The renovation measures included in the Plan will create around 8,000 jobs and maintain employment for self-employed professionals, SMEs, and energy and construction companies.

Programme to improve wireless connectivity in the hotel sector: "Hoteles Con Red"

  • What does this programme offer?
    It offers financial assistance (maximum €25,000) allocated to hotels to help them establish or improve their wi-fi network, enabling them to offer a high quality free service to their guests from anywhere in the hotel and absorb the increase in mobile devices available per person.
  • Who can benefit from this assistance?
    Hotel establishments (CNAE 2009: 55.10 Hotels and similar accommodation, and 55.20 Tourist accommodation and other short-stay accommodation) with a minimum of 40 hotel places, fewer than 250 employees, and turnover of less than €50M; located in self-governing communities of Spain that receive FEDER funding: Andalusia, Galicia, Castilla-La Mancha, Extremadura, Region of Valencia, Canary Islands, Castilla y León, Asturias, Murcia, Ceuta and Melilla.
  • What can the money be used for?
    To install or improve a quality wireless network in the hotel establishment (Wi-Fi network), covering around 90% of the total surface area including rooms and open and closed communal areas (obligatory)
    To install a new Internet line or improve the existing one in support of the wireless network (optional, and up to a maximum of 40% of the grant), including expenses associated with this installation and up to a maximum of 3 months’ service.
  • How and where can I apply for a grant?
    The entire process is carried out electronically via the electronic headquarters of

Financial Assistance Programme for Energy Renovation of existing Buildings in the Residential sector (housing and hotel usage).

In order to promote integral actions that favour the improvement of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energies in existing residential buildings, the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Tourism, through the Institute for Diversification and Energy Savings (IDAE), has launched a specific financial assistance programme.

Actions must fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Improving the energy efficiency of the thermal building envelope.
  • Improving the energy efficiency of thermal and lighting installations.
  • Replacing conventional energy with biomass energy in thermal installations.
  • Replacing conventional energy with geothermal energy in thermal installations.

The type of assistance granted will depend on the type of action undertaken, and will take the form of a non-repayable grant or a repayable loan.

MOVELE 2015.

The aim of the MOVELE 2015 programme is to provide financial assistance to encourage people to buy new electric vehicles in 2015, understood as any vehicle that is powered fully or partially by batteries, charged through the mains electricity grid.

This financial assistance is available to:

  • a) Self-employed professionals, who must be registered with the Census of Business Owners, Professionals, and Withholding Agents.
  • b) Private individuals living in Spain who are not included under section a).
  • c) Private companies, validly constituted in Spain when the application is submitted, legal entities with a Fiscal Identification Number (NIF) that starts with the letters A, B, C, D, E, F, G, J, N, R or W.
  • d) Local governments and provincial councils, regional governments and their public bodies, provided the Ministry of Finance and Public Administrations has issued a report regarding their fulfilment of the corresponding conditions of budgetary stability, and other public entities pertaining to Central Government.
  • e) Points of sale affiliated to the programme can become beneficiaries provided the sales operation is managed by another dealership or point of sale affiliated to the programme, which must be a different legal entity to the beneficiary in question.


This will vary depending on the category of vehicle purchased and its autonomy when powered exclusively by electricity. The maximum amount is €20,000.

Efficient vehicle incentives programme to renew transport fleets. This measure has proven to be one of the most efficient in reducing energy consumption, with additional positive effects in terms of the environment and road safety.

The financial assistance available as part of the Plan PIVE-8 is available to private individuals, self-employed professionals, microbusinesses and SMEs. Beneficiaries will obtain the subsidy directly by means of the corresponding discount applied at the point of sale where the new vehicle is purchased.

The Plan PIVE-8 maintains the core elements of previous programmes. The amount of public funding provided by the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Tourism is 1,000 euros per vehicle, which will be added to the discount applied by the manufacturer or point of sale of the new incentivised vehicle and which will be a further 1,000 euros at least.
